Are my Sealskinz gloves leaking?Updated 8 months ago
With regards to the function of the waterproof gloves, they are constructed as a three-layer product. They have an outer layer that can get wet (this will absorb water), an inner layer, and a waterproof membrane sandwiched in between. It is this membrane that provides a barrier to water passing through the outer layer and into the gloves and keeps your hands dry.
All the products will keep water out up to the sewn level of the cuff.
If they are immersed in water above this level, they will become wet. Also is water is able to run down from a sleeve.
Although the waterproof membrane inside the gloves is breathable, in warmer conditions and during exercise there may be a build up of moisture/perspiration.
